GOSPEL

Jesus Leads Us
The Story of Christ is one of humility, devotion, sacrifice, and love. It is all over the New Testament. We see Jesus dining at the home of the hated, sitting at the well with the dishonored, and talking about serving the sick, the incarcerated, and the lonely.

Jesus himself came to serve others, not to be above or better than anyone.

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45

According to Peter, we all have gifts and should use those gifts to serve others. Yes, we are designed by God to serve anyone, any time, any place.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10

It is this leadership today, that of the Holy Spirit (God with us.), that puts us in a context to do as Jesus would do. And just who are those hated and abused and set aside?

In the context of our ministry work we see many examples; Homeless men and women, the incarcerated, gay and bisexual men and women, the transgender neighbors in our community, and even those who use needles to inject drugs. Where would Jesus be? What does he call us to do?

We believe it is our obligation to advocate for and to serve those members of our community who are often voiceless and vulnerable, stigmatized, and ostracized, marginalized and demonized, sick and suffering, left out and outcast, hurting and alone.

It is Gospel that sets this path. It is Gospel that calls us to service and compassion. It is Gospel to serve others.
